- American Jurisprudence 2d through Westlaw Campus
- This encyclopedia is similar to CJS (listed above) - the advantage being that all the referenced cites are hotlinked.
- American Law Reports
- This is a great place to start topic-oriented legal research. The 'annotations' are like mini-treatises and will lead you on to further research. WIU has all available sets, which are continuously updated. The indexes are located on study tables in the Legal Reference section. Also available through Westlaw Campus
- LexisNexis Academic
- There are two ways to search legal topics in LexisNexis. First, you can search law review articles by broad topics listed in the 'Select Sources' drop-down menu. Second, you can click the Sources tab, then click the radio button next to Area of Law, then choose from the topic areas listed and do your search.
- Legal Treatises
- Legal treatises are comprehensive subject-oriented books and practice aids written on individual topics or practice areas by legal experts in their practice fields. They are often the best place to start legal research and can be found using WestCat.
- Tax Law and Regulations
- CCH Tax Research Network
- RIA Checkpoint
