What is WIU Central Sign-On?
WIU Central Sign-On is a service that allows students, faculty and staff to login once and access resources like My WIU Portal, WesternOnline and your WIU email.
How do I login to WIU Central Sign-On?
Log in to Central Sign-On by navigating to any web-based resource that is integrated into the WIU Central Sign-On environment.
How do I log out of WIU Central Sign-On?
Log out of WIU Central Sign-On by logging out of any web-based resource (e.g. WesternOnline, Gmail, etc.) that is integrated into WIU Central Sign-On environment. WIU does not use a single sign-out mechanism. Logging out of My WIU Portal will not log out of WesternOnline if both are open. It will only require logging into a resource that is not already open.
How can I be sure I stay logged into WIU Central Sign-On?
If you want to be sure that you continue your WIU Central Sign-On session in order to avoid re-entering your username and password, close tabs and windows without logging out of any resource. The only way to be sure you have logged out of WIU Central Sign-On is to exit or quit the web browser you are using.
How do I navigate to another resource once logged in to WIU Central Sign-On?
Once logged in to WIU Central Sign-On, simply open a new tab or window and type the url of the resource you would like to use. 
How do I know for sure that I am on WIU Central Sign-On page?
The only way to be sure you are logging into WIU’s web resources that use WIU Central Sign-On is to look at the url. WIU Central Sign-On login page will always begin with https://auth.wiu.edu/. Even if the webpage looks identical to the WIU Central Sign-On page, it’s not valid unless the url begins this way.
Should I use WIU Central Sign-On from public or shared computers?
WIU Central Sign-On can be used on public or shared computers. CAUTION: Be sure to exit or quit the browser and logout of the computer before leaving it to ensure that no one else accesses your accounts.
Why do I have to keep logging in to WIU Central Sign-On?
Logging out of any resource that is integrated into the WIU Central Sign-On environment will close your WIU Central Sign-On session and require you to login again before gaining access to new resources. Resources already open will continue to work. Instead of logging out, try closing the tab or window of the resource you want to leave.
Can I use multiple ECom accounts with WIU Central Sign-On?
Multiple ECom accounts (e.g. department and personal) can be used to login to WIU Central Sign-On. Because WIU Central Sign-On sessions are browser specific, you must use a different web browser with each ECom account being accessed simultaneously. For example, use Firefox to access your personal ECom account and Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer to access a department ECom account.
Will my bookmarks and favorites work with WIU Central Sign-On?
Yes, all existing bookmarks or favorites will continue to work with WIU Central Sign-On.
Will STARS use WIU Central Sign-On for authentication?
Currently STARS is not using WIU Central Sign-On. Central sign-on capability for STARS is being evaluated.
Will WIUP use WIU Central Sign-On for authentication?
Due to the sensitive nature of the data accessed within WIUP, there are no plans to use single sign-on with WIUP.
