Paint the Paws Kicks Off WIU Homecoming Sept. 26

MACOMB, IL - - Students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to participate in Western Illinois University's annual Homecoming tradition, Paint the Paws, slated for Friday, Sept. 26 on the Macomb campus.

Paint the Paws is hosted by the Student Alumni Leadership Council (SALC), the governing board of the Student Alumni Association every student is a member of. The yearly event involves the painting of more than 200 paws along University Drive and Western Avenue to welcome alumni and visitors to campus and display WIU school spirit.

SALC will host two shifts, a 1 p.m. and a 3 p.m. shift. Painters should check in at Western Hall at least 15 minutes before the beginning of their shift. SALC will provide supplies to painters.

Student groups, faculty, staff and alumni interested in participating should contact Michelle Hunter at MJ-Hunter@wiu.edu by Monday, Sept. 22. Teams participating as part of the WIU Homecoming competition should contact the Office of Student Activities at osa@wiu.edu or (309) 298-3232.

While Paint the Paws kicks off Homecoming (Sept. 26-Oct. 4) for the students, the annual Celebrating Town & Gown event serves as the official kick-off for Western's Homecoming. The signature University and community event will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at The Forum in Macomb.
