Comprehensive Psychological Assessments

The Counseling Center has assessments to help students.

What do psychological assessments at the UCC involve?

Psychological assessments assess cognitive and achievement functioning, and collect social, emotional, and behavioral information using standardized and objective measures. Psychological assessments are conducted by a post-doctoral scholar and supervised by a licensed psychologist.

We offer testing services to assess primarily for Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Other areas of assessment, such as test anxiety and mood disorders, can be discussed during the psychological assessment intake and/or with an individual counselor.

Testing will take approximately 6 to 8 hours, over the course of 2 to 3 weeks. You are required to be on time to all testing sessions and must call 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule a session. If you miss your psychological assessment intake, you will be removed from the testing waitlist.

Methods typically include: clinical/developmental history interview, DSM-5 diagnostic clinical interviews, questionnaires/rating scales, records review (records provided by client), standardized performance-based assessment, and collateral reports across academic, behavioral, social, emotional, personality, and cognitive domains. Sources of assessment information may include student, parents/caregivers, and partners/roommates.

How much does it cost?

A psychological assessment costs $275. The psychological assessment intake session is $15, and you will be charged an additional $130 on the first date of testing. The remaining $130 must be paid prior to receiving your results, feedback, and written report.

The UCC does not accept insurance. You may pay with cash or check.

How do I sign up?

Please fill out the Assessment Information Sheet and bring it to our office to be added to the psychological assessment waitlist. When a clinician becomes available for testing, you will receive a call from the front desk to schedule your psychological assessment intake and testing. You will have 48 hours to schedule your appointment before the front desk contacts the next client on the waiting list.

You can download the Assessment Information Sheet or come to our front desk and fill it out.
