WIU to Offer Free Business Workshop in Collaboration with IL-SBDC

MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University's Bilingual Early Learning & Family Center, in partnership with the Illinois Small Business Development Center (IL-SBDC), will host a free in-person workshop series titled "Starting a Business in Illinois." The workshops will take place from 5:30 -7:30 p.m., Mondays, April 7, 21 and 28, in WIU-QC Riverfront Hall, Room 120 (3300 River Drive, Moline, IL).

The workshop series is designed to provide guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs on the essential steps to establishing a business. Topics covered will include:

Choosing a business name
Business property types
Licenses and permits
Obtaining a tax identification number
Business bank accounts
Insurance considerations
Tax payments (sales tax, payroll)
Basic record-keeping

This no-cost opportunity is open free to individuals interested in launching a business in Illinois.
