Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Meet Michael Nsor, a Spring 2024 graduate of Physics and Computer Science, who has accepted a job with the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

"I saw this position on LinkedIn and applied on the company site. A recruiter reached out to me to ask a few questions about me and explain the role. I was sent a SQL test and some database credentials to use for the test. I completed the test in less than 24 hours. Three impromptu interviews were scheduled on the same day upon receipt of my test results. During the interview, I was tested again on my experience, knowledge and skills. A final interview was scheduled after which I was given an offer," Nsor said.

Nsor feels the computational physics course together with database courses are what prepared him for this position.

"The computational physics course together with database courses (database, advanced database and topics in databases), data structure I and II at WIU equipped me with a solid foundation needed for this role," Nsor said.

Nsor stays involved with the International student cohort.

"I still have an ongoing project that I am working on with my supervisor at WIU. Also, as a former president of the WIU Ghanaian Student Association, I am still involved in the activities of the association," Nsor said.
