SITREP Reading Planned for Wednesday

MACOMB, IL – Contributors to this year's edition of "SITREP: Veteran Perspectives on Combat and Peace" magazine will read from their work from 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 in the Western Illinois University Art Gallery.

The magazine includes fiction, non-fiction, poetry and art from veteran and service members who are WIU students, alumni, faculty and staff.

The magazine was founded in 2015 by advisors Barbara Lawhorn and Jacqueline Wilson, assistant professors in the WIU Department of English. Its editorial board is made up of students from both the Macomb and QC campuses: English graduate student Ryan Bronaugh, of Blandinsville, IL (managing and fiction editor); senior English major Luke Cummings, of Moline, IL (non-fiction editor); English graduate student Daniel Holst, of Bettendorf, IA, and Jared Worley, an English graduate student from Macomb, IL (poetry editors). 

The magazine includes work by veterans who represent all the main branches of the service and served in the Vietnam War, Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations, stateside and overseas. The event is open free to the public.
