Timely Warning: Attempted Arson Lincoln Hall

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University Interim Director of Public Safety Tom Clark has issued a notice regarding an alleged attempted arson in Lincoln Hall sometime during the overnight hours.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. April 20, OPS officers responded to a call from Physical Plant staff working on the third floor of Lincoln Hall who discovered that a wall and carpeting had burn damage. The fire apparently extinguished on its own before causing smoke alarms to sound. No one currently resides on the third floor due to the renovations. An investigation is continuing.

The Office of Public Safety reminds the campus community to report suspicious activity immediately. Individuals with information about this incident should call Public Safety at (309) 298-1949, Macomb police at (309) 833-4505 or Macomb Area Crime Stoppers at (309) 836-3222. Individuals can also send information to the Macomb Police Department's anonymous Text to Tip service by texting the word MPDTIPS along with the information to CRIMES (274637).
