MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Phi Rho Eta Fraternity is sponsoring "The American Dream: The Black Dream or the Black Nightmare" program from 8-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 in the University Union Lincoln Room.

According to Allen Hood, VP for the Phi Rho Eta Fraternity, Inc. (WIU Colony), this program will address what makes the American Dream and how the African American community has -- or has not -- withstood the effects of chasing it.

"Within the African American community, the majority of individuals have been conditioned to chase after the American Dream. This dream has been obtained by some, but for many, the American Dream has become a symbol of something with a more negative connotation, which we will explore in this discussion," said Hood.
