Marching Band Classic October 7

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Marching Leathernecks will host the 25th annual Marching Band Classic Saturday, Oct. 7 at WesternÂ’s Hanson Field.
Fifteen area high school marching bands will square-off in field competition in a two-division championship format: small school (Classes 1A, 2A) and large school (Classes 3A, 4A). Overall champion trophies will be awarded in each division and to the top three bands in each class. The best drum major(s), percussion, winds and auxiliaries in each division also will receive trophies.
Participating schools and their performance time are:
Class 1A (up to 300 students)
- Winchester (IL) High School Marching Wildcats, Sara Dunbar director, 3:10 p.m.;
- Kewanee (IL) Wethersfield High School Flying Geese, Jay Hagaman director, 3:27 p.m.;
- Galva (IL) High School Marching Wildcats, Brian Woods director, 3:44 p.m.
Class 2A (301 to 600 students)
- Auburn (IL) High School Marching Trojans, Bekah Philbrick director, 4:11 p.m.;
- Taylor Ridge (IL) Rock Ridge High School Marching Rockets, Jake Walker director,
- 4:28 p.m.;
- Kewanee (IL) High School Marching Boilermakers, Andy Eckardt director, 4:45 p.m.;
- Rushville (IL)-Industry High School Marching Band, Jody Worthington director, 5:02 p.m.;
- Farmington (IL) Central High School Golden Wave; Fred Herink director; 5:19 p.m.
Class 3A (601 to 1,000 students)
- Chillicothe (IL) Valley Central High School Marching Grey Ghosts, Dan Dietrich director,
- 5:55 p.m.;
- Dunlap (IL) High School Marching Eagles, Jill Potts director, 6:12 p.m.;
- Pontiac (IL) Township High School Marching Indians, Scot Schickel director, 6:29 p.m.
Class 4A (1,001 students and up)
- Bartonville (IL) Limestone High School Marching Rockets, Andy Empey director, 6:56 p.m.;
- Pekin (IL) Community High School Marching Dragons, Karli Skelton director, 7:13 p.m.;
- Palos Heights (IL) Alan B. Shepard High School Marching Astros, Christopher Pitlik director, 7:30 p.m.;
- Rock Island (IL) High School Pride of Rock Island, Peter Carlin director, 7:47 p.m.
Western IllinoisÂ’ Marching Leathernecks, under the direction of Associate Director of Bands Doug Phillips, will perform after the small (5:36 p.m.) and large (8:04 p.m.) division competitions.
Admission to the Marching Band Classic is $6 for adults, $3 for students and seniors and free for children 5 years old and younger. The competition will be held in Western Hall in case of inclement weather.
