MACOMB, IL – The Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at Western Illinois University is pleased to announce that Abby (Luper) Walker, a graphic designer I in University Relations, was selected as the July Civil Service Employee of the Month.

Walker was cited by her nominators for being “unflappable, personable and responsible. Her calm demeanor makes those who work with her know that the job is in capable hands and the end result will be outstanding.”

“Her creativity knows no boundaries and her juggling skills are second-to-none. She accomplishes every task head-on and always with a smile. No matter how big or small the task, Abby is willing to stop what she is working on to help a fellow co-worker. We are consistently impressed with her unwavering dedication and the way she goes above and beyond the call of duty in her work,” her nominators added.

Walker began working for University Relations as an editorial assistant in July 2000, and her position was reallocated to graphic designer I in September 2003.

“We’d like to congratulate Abby for her diligence, her creativity and her professionalism. She is to be commended for her commitment to Western,” said Katharine D. Barrett, CSEC public relations officer.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Barrett at 309/298-2325 or email
