WIU Alumnus to Star in "Elephant and Piggie’s 'We Are in a Play!” Musical

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University Musical Theatre alumnus Lorenzo Rush Jr. is ready to take the stage at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, IL this summer. Rush will star in ELEPHANT & PIGGIE'S "WE ARE IN A PLAY!" as "Elephant," a lead role.

"Lorenzo is one of my absolute favorite actors to work with," said Musical Director Johanna Miller. "He is generous, funny, and kind and brings so much heart to the entire process. He is the perfect Elephant Gerald."

Rush completed classes at WIU until 2014. He is a seasoned Chicago actor and the Joseph Jefferson and Black Theatre Alliance Award winner. He has been featured in many theatrical performances, and is featured in award winning television shows, including "Chicago Fire," "Fargo," "Sirens" and "Chicago PD."

The Marriott Theatre's musical adaptation of the award-winning children's book, "Elephant and Piggie's 'We Are in a Play!'" follows the story of best friends Gerald and Piggie as they attend a party with three singing squirrels called the Squirrelles. This musical is filled with laughter, singing, and is perfect for any audience.
