WIU Opera Workshop Performing Friday and Saturday

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University School of Music will present the WIU Opera Workshop performing Elysia A. Arntzen's "The Cask of Amontillado (A Concert Version)" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.
The WIU Opera Workshop, under the direction of Alfonzo Cooper, Jr., assistant professor and C. T. Vivian Diversity Teaching Scholar in Vocal Performance, will perform "The Cask of Amontillado (A Concert Version), An Opera in One Act: Adapted from a Short Story by Edgar Allen Poe", music and libretto by Composer in Residence Elysia A. Arntzen, with Denzel Abarquez, collaborative pianist and WIU graduate student.
Prior to the Friday, May 5 performance, Anita Hardeman, associate professor of Musicology, will present a pre-concert lecture at 6:45 p.m. in Browne Hall, room 130.
The lecture and performances are open free for general audience seating.
