Mary Ann Griffin Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Mary Ann Griffin, wife of the late Western Illinois University Trustee and WIU Professor Emeritus Donald "Bill" Griffin, passed away Wednesday, April 19, in Macomb.
Cremation rites have been accorded and there are no services planned at this time. Burial of ashes will be held in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, IL.
Mary Ann is survived by one son, Mitchell; one daughter, Vanessa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in November 2015.
An artist and art teacher for many years, Mary Ann was instrumental in bringing the "Facing the Storm" statue to Macomb's Chandler Park, as a member of the statue's sponsor, the GFWC Macomb Women's Club. Over the years, she also donated a number of her watercolor paintings to fundraising events in Macomb and through WIU's Performing Arts Society.
Memorials may be made to the WIU Foundation Scholarship Fund, 301 Sherman Hall, Macomb, IL 61455.
