Zanger Awarded WIU President's Scholarship
April 5, 2023
MACOMB, IL – High school senior Ripley Zanger, of Petersburg, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.
"I chose Western because my grandpa went there," said Zanger. "I like the campus, it is just the right distance from home and I like the mascot. The deciding factor was the availability of the degree programs, as well as being selected as a President's Scholarship recipient.
In high school, Zanger was involved in Key Club, Student Council, Community Problem Solvers, National Honor Society, band and marching band, choir, show choir, National English Honor Society, swim team, girls' golf, Scholastic Bowl, thespians, teen mentoring, History Club, Think First Teen Board and jazz band.
At Western, Zanger plans to major in political science or history (pre-law), and participate in service organizations, Greek life and Quidditch. After graduation, Zanger plans to attend law school.
To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU's Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by proof of volunteer and community service.
