Waldrop Exhibit Opens Tuesday at University Art Gallery

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Art Professor Tim Waldrop will have a solo exhibition, "Close to Home," on display Tuesday, Feb. 21-Friday, March 24 at the University Art Gallery.

A reception for the artist will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7. The artist will speak about their work at 5 p.m.

Waldrop was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but has lived and worked in the Midwest since 1998. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from William Carey College in Gulfport, MS, in 1998, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2001.

He is currently a professor in the WIU Department of Art and Design, and lives in Macomb with his wife, Laura, and their three children. Waldrop initially joined the WIU Department of Art in 2002. He teaches a number of courses including drawing, painting, 2D design and art appreciation.

Admission is to the exhibit is open free to the public.
