MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University Admissions and Records Officer Danielle Huston, from the Office of the Registrar, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for November 2022.

Huston was hired at WIU in October 2003 as a clerk in the new hire trainee program. In August 2005, she completed the trainee program. In August 2012, Huston was reallocated by audit to admissions and records representative, and in June 2022, she was reclassified by audit to her current position.

According to her nominator, Huston demonstrates WIU's core values. The nominator also complimented Huston's organizational skills, including knowing where each student and employee should be in line at spring commencement.

"She expresses a University-first attitude," said the nominator. "When she helped train me, she always stressed that people's actions matter to them, the students and WIU. She does not use her time and talents for the glory, rather because she genuinely wants everyone to succeed. She is an asset to WIU students, faculty and staff.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at csec-nominations-g@wiu.edu.
