WIU to Host Manage Your Stress Week

MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will host a range of events for "Manage Your Stress Week." This week is a WIU-QC tradition, that occurs the week before final exams, Student Services and various student organizations collaborate to offer a range of relaxing and enjoyable activities to support students, faculty and staff.

"It is important to take your mind off things that stress you out, even for just a short period of time," said student worker and Counseling graduate student, Jill Hayden "Give yourself a brain break and don't leave your stress unaddressed, it can lead to extended anxiety and depression."

Events include:

Monday, May 2, 5-7 p.m.: #ManageYourStress Board Game Night. Visit WIU-QC Building B, room 2102 to challenge other students in fun matches of a variety of board games.

Tuesday, May 3, 12-2 p.m.: #ManageYourStress UPI Ice Cream Social. Visit Riverfront Hall Atrium to enjoy some yummy ice cream in a variety of flavors.

Wednesday, May 4: #ManageYourStress "We Wear WIU on Wednesdays." Wear your favorite WIU gear and send it to aj-yoggerst@wiu.edu to be featured on WIU-QC social media pages.

Thursday, May 5, 2-4 p.m.: #ManageYourStress QCCAN Therapy Dogs. Join us at Riverfront Hall Reception for a fun-filled time with furry friends.

Thursday, May 5, 3:30 p.m.: #ManageYourStress Yoga Class. Visit WIU-QC Building C, room 2402 to wind down from the stress of finals.

Students Services, in partnership with the WIU School of Engineering, created some stress fidgets for students, faculty and staff to use in Riverfront Hall during the "Manage Your Stress" festivities.
