February 22, 2022
MACOMB, IL - High school senior Nicolas "Nico" Lamb, of Lombard, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.
"I love the campus, and the major was unique and exactly what I was looking for," said Lamb.
Lamb plans to major in law enforcement and justice administration, and possibly add a double major in political science.
In high school, Lamb participated in National Honor Society, was head usher for the music department, orchestra – principle second violinist and orchestra vice president, varsity tennis player, scouting, BSA-Eagle Scout and Distinguished Honor Society member (order of the arrow), newspaper section editor.
At Western, Lamb plans to explore the mock trial team, the investigator's club, Alpha Phi Sigma, the Student Government Association, food pantry volunteer, tennis club, and orchestra.
After graduating from WIU, Lamb plans to attend law school with the intention of becoming a federal prosecutor, and eventually a judge.
To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU's Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by proof of volunteer and community service.
