Dear University Community,

As we near the end of the in-person semester, we want to reinforce expectations and adherence to protocols that are in place to keep you and others safe. We are aware of the increase in COVID cases in both the McDonough and Rock Island county regions. As such, members of the WIU-Macomb and - Moline campuses are encouraged to take advantage of the open test opportunities available Nov. 16-20.

Free COVID-19 simple nasal swab tests will be provided to any member of the WIU-Macomb campus community (students/faculty/staff) who wish to obtain a test must go to beuonline.wiu.edu to schedule a time. Quad Cities faculty, staff and students can continue to obtain a free COVID saliva test at Riverfront Hall.

Faculty have the option to change the delivery of their courses per the negotiated agreement. After making the necessary arrangements with their supervisor(s), staff who have the ability to work remotely should do so. We expect individuals to socially distance, wash hands frequently, and wear a face covering both inside and outside of campus facilities. Remain home when possible, and avoid social gatherings.

As a reminder, students residing on campus who have not yet submitted their housing decision if they choose to stay on campus or leave campus for the remainder of the semester must do so by 11:59 p.m. today (Nov. 13) via the "Semester Early Check-Out" screen under the Housing/Dining Menu in STARS. Students who have submitted their response, but wish to leave a different day than originally requested should work with their resident assistant and follow the check-out procedures provided.

If you don't do it for yourself, please take the necessary steps to protect your loved ones, your friends, and others. For complete protocols and guidance, visit wiu.edu/coronavirus, click on "Return to Campus, and click on "End of Semester Information."

Take care,

Martin Abraham
Interim President
