Dear University Community,

Following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and health officials, Spring 2020 classes will resume in electronic delivery formats of the instructor's choice beginning Saturday, March 21 for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. Faculty members will be in touch with their students regarding how and when classes will meet. While this is a difficult decision as this changes the on-campus academic experience for our students, faculty and staff, it is necessary.

Our residence halls remain open, and Corbin-Olson Dining Center and C-Store are open to serve our campus community. As the number of students on campus remains quite low, social distancing practices will not be an issue. Additional information will be forthcoming soon from University Housing and Dining Services. We ask for patience as we finalize possible plans.

Current student workers, including federal work-study students, and graduate assistants will continue to have job opportunities available and will be contacted by Student Employment. If students have questions about their on-campus employment, they should contact their respective supervisors. Student Employment can also be reached at studentemployment@wiu.edu and (309) 298-1996.

All campus events scheduled for the semester are cancelled. Information regarding Spring 2020 Commencement will be shared soon. For more information, the latest updates and FAQs, please visit wiu.edu/coronavirus.

While this situation certainly has changed our spring schedule, I want our returning and new students to know that we will be ready for Fall 2020.

Thank you for being a part of our WIU family.

Martin Abraham
Interim President
