Wilkinson Named WIU Advisor of the Month
November 7, 2019
MACOMB, IL -- The Council of Academic Advisors Awards and Recognition Committee at Western Illinois University announced recently that Academic Advisor Ashley Wilkinson has been named Advisor of the Month for October.
Wilkinson, who works on the Quad Cities campus, was nominated by three of her students.
"I am a 40-year-old mother with two kids, coming back to finish my bachelor's degree," said Christie Abrahams. "Ashley has been immeasurable help in figuring out the pieces of my past education and getting me back on track with a plan for my future."
A second student said Wilkinson was the best advisor she could have met with.
"She is very thorough in helping me understand what courses are needed and when I could take them," said Elizabeth Wozniak. "She is very knowledgeable in her field and I am so thankful she is my advisor."
Student Noah Forbes said Wilkinson is always committed to the success of her students.
"Every time I work with Ashley, she always has everything organized ahead of time," said Forbes. "I appreciate her preparation."
Each month, a WIU advisor is honored with a certificate and trophy. Award winners are decided by a committee that considers each of the applications for the month.
