Stierman is also the library liaison to three departments in the College of Business and Technology and provides research assistance at the Reference Desk. She joined the WIU Libraries faculty as an assistant professor in 1991, was promoted to associate professor in 1996 and to professor in 2003.

She received her master's in library and information science and an MBA from the University of Iowa, and her bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting from Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA.

The Center for International Studies will move under the direction of Associate Provost Mark Mossman and the Office of Graduate Programs, effective Nov. 1, while a national search is underway for a director of international studies.
