Western Extends Condolences to SIUC Community

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University President Jack Thomas, on behalf of WIU, sends condolences to Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and the Montemagno family, following the passing of SIUC Chancellor Carlo Montemagno.

"The University extends its deepest sympathies to the Southern Illinois community and the Montegamo family," Thomas said.

Interim SIU President Kevin Dorsey announced that Chancellor Montemagno had died Thursday morning. He had served as the SIUC Chancellor since August 2017.

"I had the honor of working with Chancellor Montemagno as part of the Illinois Presidents and Chancellors Group, and in Springfield as we advocated for public higher education funding," Thomas added. "He truly cared about his institution and higher education. He will be missed."
