WIU Czech Centenary Music Festival Kicks Off With Symphony Orchestra Concert Friday

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University School of Music will present a Symphony Orchestra Concert, the first event in the WIU Czech Centenary Music Festival line-up, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by WIU Associate Professor of Music Richard Hughey, will perform music by Czech composers, including Jaroslav Ježek's "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra," featuring piano soloist and WIU Professor of Music Jeffrey Brown. Also featured on the program will be "Spring Overture, op. 9" by Otakar Jeremiáš, "Scherzo fantastique, op. 25" (Fanstastické scherzo) by Josef Suk, and "Symphony No. 8 in G Major, op. 88" by Antonín Dvořák.

This performance is open free.
