WIU Move-In Aug. 17-18; Fall Classes Begin Aug. 20

MACOMB, IL -- The countdown is on for new and returning students to move into their Western Illinois University residences, beginning Friday, Aug. 17.

Classes for the 2018-2019 academic year begin Monday, Aug. 20.

Move-in at the WIU residence halls for new freshmen and transfer students begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17. Returning students can move into the residence halls Aug. 17-20. The complete guide to move-in information can be found at http://bit.ly/2mJVqYn

A New Student Convocation will be held for students and their families at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 in Western Hall. During the event, WIU faculty, staff and students will welcome new undergraduate students and their families to campus. Immediately following the convocation, WIU President Jack Thomas will host a picnic for new students and their families on the campus mall, southwest of the Spencer Student Recreation Center.

Then, from 8-8:30 p.m., new students will have an opportunity to get to know others in their residence halls. Events will be held in Bayliss-Henninger and Tanner halls.

"Rocky After Dark: First Night Fun," a free event for students, will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Hanson Field.

"We are excited to welcome everyone to Western Illinois University," said President Jack Thomas. "The people of this University make it a world-class institution of higher learning. From the faculty to the staff to the administration, we are here to provide our students with an outstanding educational experience."

The Student Activities Fair, for students to learn about more than 250 student organizations, departments, volunteer opportunities, campus resources and community services and products, will be held from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 in the campus mall area outside of the University Union.
