MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University Grants and Contracts Associate II in the Office of Sponsored Projects Jennifer Scott has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for July.

Scott was hired at WIU in June 1997 as a secretary III in the WIU Financial Aid office. She was then promoted to secretary IV in the Non-Credit Programs office. In 2011, she was hired as a Grants and Contracts Associate I in the Office of Sponsored Projects and in February 2017, she audited to the position she currently holds.

According to Scott's nominator, she always demonstrates "enthusiasm and outstanding performance daily."

"She is always ready and willing to assist administrators, faculty, staff and co-workers with a positive and enthusiastic attitude," said her nominator. "She willingly assists new co-workers in learning their position by assisting with learning of grant rules and regulations. She develops lasting working relationships by listening, being positive, caring and taking pride in the work she does."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at
