Stearns Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL - - Springfield High School senior Ian Stearns, of Springfield, IL has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher (or SAT equivalent of 1390), and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, are eligible for the scholarship.

Stearns plans to major in meteorology.

"I've heard nothing but great things from people I know who go to Western, and after doing my own research, I knew it was an excellent option," Stearns said.

In high school, Stearns is involved marching band, jazz band, and French club.
