MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Singers will join Macomb musician Chris Vallillo on stage to bring his critically-acclaimed CD to life at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 in Hainline Theatre.

"Oh, Freedom" was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement. From "We Shall Overcome" to "This Little Light of Mine," music played a vital role in that historic struggle, both as an inspirational rallying point and as a way to spread the message of equality and justice.

Vallillo and the WIU Singers will perform pivotal songs from the music that inspired and sustained the historic movement. Intermixed with the music, Vallillo presents first-hand accounts of the historic struggle and discusses the impact of music to this social cause.

Tickets, available at BCAbringstheSTARS.com, are $15 for the public and $10 for senior citizens, WIU employees and youth. WIU students will be admitted free with valid student identification.
