WIU Dance Marathon 5K Sept. 23

MACOMB, IL -- Run, run as fast as you can!

The Western Illinois University Dance Marathon (DM)will host the second annual DM 5K (3.1 mile) race Saturday, Sept. 23 as part of the organization's year-round effort to raise money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals, St. Louis Children's Hospital and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon. The year-long event culminates Feb. 24, 2018, with the 12-hour Dance Marathon, which honors the 12-hour shifts of doctors and nurses, as well as children who are unable to stand.

The event, which starts at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 (registration begins at 8 a.m.), is a 3.1 mile race through the Macomb city streets, that will begin (and end) at The Old Dairy, 210 S. Lafayette St. The $25 registration (plus $2.95 service fee) is due by Friday, Sept. 22. Online registration is available at https://tinyurl.com/WIUDM5K17. Participants registering before Sept. 15 are guaranteed a race day t-shirt. On-site registration the day of the race is $30.

Western's Dance Marathon is entering its fifth year on the WIU campus, with this year's goal set at $150,000. Donations are welcome, and may be made by visiting tinyurl.com/wiudm18 or emailing dancemarathon@wiu.edu. Last year's event raised $123,200.
