MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Community Art Program will be presented Sundays from Oct. 23–Nov. 13 at the West Central Illinois Arts Center and Garwood Hall on the WIU campus.

The free program is for students in first through eighth grades. Classes will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. and from 3- 4:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and 30, and Nov, 6 and 13.

The classes include:

• First and second grades: Don't "leaf" your creativity at home. Fall in love with art this autumn. Using the season as a guide, first and second grade students will create watercolor pumpkins, colored corn mosaics, clay leaf bowls and turkey "selfies."

• Third and fourth grades: Dive into the four-week art program as the program explores the depths of the ocean in our underwater unit theme. Students will submerge themselves in projects that center around marine animals and plants.

• Fifth-eighth grades: The young artists will be exploring the concept of colors and shapes, such as rhythm, balance and repetition. They will experiment with colors and shape variations and learn how spatial illusions are influenced by different applications of color and shape combinations.

To pre-register for the class, contact Christy Quigley at ca-quigley@wiu.edu.
