Ag Mech Club's 2016 Farm Expo to Be Featured on Upcoming Episode of Emmy Award-Winning "IL Stories"
February 5, 2016
One of Western Illinois University's Signature Academic Programs, the WIU School of Agriculture continually succeeds in driving excellence in, and opportunities for, students studying agriculture. In this work week before the 46th annual Ag Mech Club's Farm Expo (Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 6-7) — the largest student-run show in the U.S., held each year in Western Hall — University Relations staff will feature a School of Agriculture-related story each day through the start of what many call the "Ag Mech Show," which opens at 9 a.m. Feb. 6. For more more information about the Ag Mech Club's Farm Expo, see www.wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.php?release_id=13227.
MACOMB, IL — Set up for the 46th annual Western Illinois University Ag Mech Club's Farm Expo is underway today in Western Hall. WIU School of Agriculture students, as well as faculty and staff, are diligently working to prepare the venue for the 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 opening of the exposition.
The largest student-run show in the U.S., the "Ag Mech Show," as many refer to it, draws thousands of individuals from western Illinois and beyond and is a premier showcase for Illinois agriculture.
Friday, Feb. 5, Mark McDonald, the host of the Emmy Award-winning series, "Illinois Stories" (aired on Springfield Public Television, Network Knowledge), was on campus to interview past and present WIU students—the individuals who put in the many hours and show tremendous dedication that it takes to get this show up and running each year. In addition, former chair of agriculture (and a WIU alumnus), H. Edward Breece (chair from 1977-1989) was on hand for interviews with McDonald.
