Four Men for Men's Health Set for Feb. 17

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Employee Wellness committee will present the sixth annual "Four Men for Men's Health" at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 in the University Union Sandburg Theatre. The event is open free to the public.

An hour-long event dedicated to addressing men's health issues, the panel discussion will feature four speakers who work at WIU, including Bill Knox, English professor; Michael Hott, architectural superintendent; Greg Phelps, senior library specialist; and Ron Pettigrew, academic advisor. Dale Adkins, recently retired associate dean of the College of Education and Human Services, will moderate the panel.

Each speaker will address a different topic related to men's health. The topics include:

  • Knox — "Daily Doing: Creating Unobtrusive Exercise"
  • Hott — "Why Work Out?"
  • Phelps — "Hooping for Health: The Effects of Noon Time Basketball on Wellness"
  • Pettigrew — "Personal and Spiritual Resilience"

In addition, the presenters will answer audience questions. "Four Men for Men's Health" is co-sponsored by the WIU Center for the Study of Masculinities and Men's Development (CSMMD).
