MACOMB, IL — Staff members at the Western Illinois University Center for International Studies are looking for local volunteers to host WIU international students the weekend of July 10-12.

According to Dana Vizdal, assistant director, orientation and student activities, each summer the Center for International Studies (CIS) hosts Korean students from Gwangju University. As part of their program, they spend a weekend with American families. This year, in addition to the 17 Gwangju students, CIS will host 27 students from Shanghai Donghai Vocational Technical College (Shanghai, China).

"We are looking for families to host these students from 5 p.m. Friday, July 10 through early afternoon Sunday, July 12. Students enjoy spending time with families eating meals, cooking, shopping, going on local field trips and attending church," she said. "We offer a small stipend of $30 for hosting two students to help cover the cost of meals."

If interested in hosting two or more international students, contact Vizdal before Wednesday, May 27.

For more information, contact Vizdal at (309) 298-3734 or via email at DM-Vizdal@wiu.edu.
