MACOMB, IL – Michele Mussatto, an office manager for curriculum and instruction at Western Illinois University, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for May.

Mussatto was appointed to her current position in March 2014.

According to Mussatto's nominator, she "consistently presents a smiling and helpful demeanor, while always being extremely professional."

"She is highly organized, and all of her tasks are successfully completed," her nominator said. " She is the first person encountered at our office by faculty, staff, students and parents; she is always dressed professionally and politely greets people with a smile. It is hard to pick just one example of the positive impact Michele has had on our faculty and staff in this department."

The nominator added that Mussatto recently helped with a large portion of a conference sponsored by a student organization.

"The conference presenter and grant director said they have rarely seen a conference so well organized with excellent registration and advertising," the nominator said. "She is a good listener and is able to formulate appropriate suggestions and solutions to problems, has a kind word for everyone and helps present polished and professional programs. She makes me proud to be a member of the department."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Alisha Looney at AA-Looney@wiu.edu.
