WIU Alumni Named Principals of Year for Blackhawk Region by IL Principal Assn.

MACOMB, IL — Two Western Illinois University alumni have been named Principal of the Year for the Blackhawk Region by the Illinois Principals Association (IPA).

According to a Moline-Coal Valley School District press release, Robert Beem (Woodrow Wilson Middle School, Moline, IL) has been named the 2014 IPA Middle School Principal of the Year (Blackhawk Region), and Lyle Goldensoph (Moline High School—Coolidge Campus, Moline) has been named 2014 IPA High School Principal of the Year (Blackhawk Region).

Beem and Goldensoph will be honored at an awards breakfast Monday (Feb. 23) in Moline, IL.

As region honorees, Beem and Goldensoph will be considered for the state-level middle school and high school Principal of the Year awards. The final selection will be made later in 2015 and presented at the IPA fall conference in October.

Beem began his role as principal of Woodrow Wilson Middle School in 2010. He previously served as the assistant principal (2005-10) and taught science and physical education at Wilson Middle School for 14 years prior to 2005. Beem earned his master's degree in educational administration from WIU in 1999.

Goldensoph became principal of Moline High School—Coolidge Campus in 2010. According to the release, he previously served as an industrial arts teacher and educational coordinator at Arrowhead Ranch (1994-2004) and began his role as the principal there in 2004. Prior to his positions at Arrowhead, Goldensoph taught at Davenport Central High School. He earned master's degree in special education from Western in 1999.
