WIU to Host Annual Martin Luther King Junior Program Jan. 29

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host the 28th annual Martin Luther King Jr. program, sponsored by the WIU Department of African American Studies and the Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center (GBCC), at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 at Western's Multicultural Center.

The celebration, "The Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and His Use of Mahatma Gandhi's Principles of Nonviolence," will include a program and panel discussion. Panelists include: WIU English and Journalism Professor Mohammad Ahmadullah Siddiqi, Sociology and Anthropology Professor Robert Hironimus-Wendt, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies and Assistant Professor Ronald Williams, Professor Emeritus and former African American Studies Department Chair Essie Rutledge and African American Studies Department Chair and Interim Director of the GBCC F. Erik Brooks.
