Birkholz Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Galena High School senior Jeremiah Birkholz, of Galena, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Birkholz said he expects to major in chemistry at Western.

At Western, Birkholz said he hopes to participate in the University's music program.

After graduation, Birkholz hopes to either begin a career or move into graduate school.

In high school, Birkholz participated in concert and jazz choirs, concert, marching and jazz bands, key club, football, theatre, drama club, scholastic bowl and the Junior Master Gardeners Club.
