Devine Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Athens High School senior Sara Devine, of Athens, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Devine said she expects to major in either music or audiology at Western.

"I have gone to summer music camps at Western over the years and I have always had good experiences with the professors and my peers," Appel said. "I loved that the professor took time with each student and made everyone feel important and welcome. The dorms are comfortable, the professors are dedicated and the food is fantastic."

After graduation, Devine would like to pursue her master's and doctoral degrees.

In high school, Devine participated in band, choir, show choir, jazz band, pep band, marching band, theatre, flute choir, orchestra and was a member of the National Honor Society.
