Library Development Director Interviews Set

MACOMB, IL -- Three candidates for the director of development for the Western Illinois University Libraries will be on campus for interviews Wednesday, Oct. 15, Monday, Oct. 20 and Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Candidates include Greg Phelps, library specialist, WIU Malpass Library (Oct. 15); Emily Gillett, former institutional advancement coordinator, Spoon River College (Oct. 20); and Suzanne Woodward, branch executive director, Mt. Sterling YMCA (Oct. 22). Interview schedules and candidate resumes are be available online at www.wiu.edu/employment.

An open meeting for will be held with each candidate from 2:15-3 p.m. in the Malpass Library Garden Lounge.

Phelps has served in his current position at the WIU Library since March 2000. Previously, he worked in sales and on-air programming for WCAZ-AM in Carthage (1994-2000, full-time; currently part-time on-air personality/sports) and on-air personality and sports broadcasts for WKAI-K100 in Macomb (1993-1994).

Phelps received his bachelor's degree from Western.

Gillett served in her position at Spoon River College from 2005 to September 2014. Previously, she was the vice president for the Macomb Chamber and Downtown Development Corporation (2003-2005) and was the Carthage branch manager for Union Bank (2001-2003).

Gillett received her bachelor's degree from Western, and is currently a graduate degree student at North Park University, Chicago. She holds a certificate in fundraising management from Indiana University.

Woodward has served in current position at the Mt. Sterling YMCA since November 2003. Previously, she was a career/academic counselor at John Wood Community College in Quincy (1999-2003) and worked in the Office of Career Services at MacMurray College in Jacksonville (1998-1999).

Woodward received her master's degree from Western and her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University.
The director of development works with the Libraries dean to establish long-range objectives for development activities, and assists the Libraries in seeking external funding. The development director leads and directs the planning and implementation of development activities as they relate to the priorities of the comprehensive campaign, and directs the implementation of activities established by the Library Atrium Society, while working with the outreach librarian on marketing and special projects. The director also provides stewardship and cultivation to WIU donors and prospects.
