MACOMB, IL – Guilford High School senior Elizabeth Sharp, of Rockford, IL has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Sharp said she will likely major in chemistry at Western, which she hopes is a stepping stone to a pharmacy program later in her academic career.

"I picked out Western for its excellent selection of courses concerning the sciences," Sharp said. "Western offers a large range of appealing majors and programs that only a handful of colleges can manage. I'm also quite fond of the color purple."

At Western, Sharp also hopes to learn a foreign language and take part in student-government, as well as music and theatre programming.

In high school, Sharp participated in National Honor Society, Key Club, student council, Scholastic Bowl and band and was editor of her school's newspaper and a member of the musical theatre's orchestra.

After graduation from WIU, Sharp hopes to move on to a pharmacy program and earn of Doctor of Pharmacy degree, before becoming a hospital pharmacist.
