WIU Choirs to Perform Oct. 5

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Choirs will be performing a concert at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will be featuring music of Benjamin Britten, an English composer that wrote some of the most appealing classical music of the 20th century. Britten became a global musical figure and was considered the finest British composer of all time, next to Henry Purcell. He has also been haled as one of the all-time great opera composers and has performed around the world with his partner, Peter Pears.

The Britten concert will be composed of three choral ensembles of WIU: The University Singers, Madrigal Singers and the Concert Choir. There will also be a special guest artist, WIU music professor Lynn Thompson, at the organ. The concert is open free to the public.
