Jose Lacerda Coming the COFAC Recital Hall

MACOMB, IL - -The Visiting Lectures Committee will sponsor a guest recital of Jose Lacerda in the COFAC Recital Hall Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Jose Lacerda will be performing "At the Whim of the Current," a vibraphone piece featuring a series of chordal figures that include gives the performer a sense of freedom in terms of gestural pacing, dynamic levels, and use of the bow. The piece also includes electronics, which adds a degree of randomness in terms of how it processes the vibraphone.

Lacedra is pursuing a doctoral degree in contemporary music at Bowling Green State University. While there, he is a teaching assistant for the percussion studio under Roger Schupp. Lacedra has worked along side many professional composers such as Steve Reich, John L. Adams, Jeff Herriott and many others and has premiered works by them as well.

He has also performed with some of the Brazil's premier orchestras including the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra. As a native of Santa Catarina, Brazil, Lacedra has earned a bachelor's degree in music performance from Universidade Deferal de Santa Maria and has earned a master's degree from the University of Miami.

The performance is open free the public.
