Associate Provost Interview

MACOMB, IL – Nancy Parsons, interim associate provost for undergraduate and graduate studies, will interview Thursday, July 25, for the Western Illinois University associate provost for undergraduate and graduate studies position.

An open session with Parsons will be held from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. in the Kaskaskia Room in the University Union.

Parsons has served in the role in an interim capacity since July 2011. Prior to that, she was a health sciences professor at Western, serving as a faculty member since 1988. She has also served as the Department of Health Science's internship coordinator for more than 23 years and was the interim department chair from January 2004 to July 2005.

Parsons served on the graduate committee for the Department of Health Sciences and as a member of the Faculty Senate and chair of the Council On Curricular Programs and Instruction (CCPI).

After receiving her bachelor's degree from Gustavus Adolphus College, Parsons received her master's and doctorate degrees from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. She also holds a master's degree in public health from the University of Illinois Springfield and has completed a graduate certificate in social marketing from the University of South Florida College of Public Health.

Western's associate provost for undergraduate and graduate studies serves in a leadership role for the division of Academic Affairs as it relates to the management of undergraduate and graduate studies. The position also requires the associate provost to serve as the director of the School of Graduate Studies and as the University's liaison to the Higher Learning Commission. The associate provost for undergraduate and graduate studies is also responsible for implementing, planning and supervising Western's First Year Experience (FYE) and assessing student learning.
