Retirement Reception Planned for Hassan

MACOMB, IL – A retirement reception for WIU Department of Theatre and Dance Professor egla Hassan will be held Friday April 5 in the lobby of the Hainline Theatre.

The reception begins at 3 p.m.

Hassan has been employed at WIU since 1982 and has directed numerous theatrical productions, including 32 main stage productions and numerous studio and touring theatre productions during that time. She previously served as chair of the Masters of Fine Arts Directing Program and as a theatre professor, teaching classes in directing, theatre history and analysis.

Hassan received her master's degree in communications from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN, and a master's degree in fine arts in directing from Western. In 2000, Hassan was named the College of Fine Arts and Communication's Outstanding Teacher, and she has received numerous other campus awards during her time at WIU.
