Cancer Research Fundraiser Results in Head Shaving

MACOMB, IL – More than 80 Western Illinois University students, staff and members of campus organizations will have their heads shaved Sunday, March 24 as part of the annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser for childhood cancer research.

The head-shaving extravaganza runs from noon – 6 p.m. in the Tanner Hall Circle on University Drive.

The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 for St. Baldrick's, with nearly 75 percent of the goal already raised. So far 83 individuals and seven teams have registered to be part of the event.

The event is open free to the public, and anyone can participate or volunteer to help with the event by registering at stbaldricks.org/events/tannerhall2013.

The event includes a head-shaving component as a sign of solidarity for children with cancer.
