MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Council of Academic Advisors and the University's Office of Career Services will be distributing new and gently used professional/interview clothing at a "Dress for Success" event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 in the University Union Concourse. The clothing was collected via a recent Interview Clothing Drive and will be distributed to students just in time for the WIU Spring Career Fair, which is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 5 (10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Union Grand Ballroom, see http://bit.ly/V09XuB).

According to Caryn Morgan, academic advisor for the College of Arts and Sciences, the goal of the drive was to collect professional clothing or accessories to distribute to students in need of items for career fairs or interviews.

"We collected nearly 400 items, including 27 suits, 80 shirts, 72 pairs of pants and 63 blazers," Morgan said. "We also have skirts, sweaters, neckties and more. The clothing is in various men's and women's sizes. Our hope is to distribute the clothes and accessories to students who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it. Currently students in this situation are faced with choosing not to attend a career fair and/or interview, wearing something that is not appropriate in some way (fit, style, etc.) or taking on additional debt to purchase something new."
