Heartland Bank & Trust Establishes Scholarships

MACOMB, IL – Heartland Bank and Trust Company has awarded six $1,000 scholarships to Western Illinois University students this fall.

"Heartland Bank's goal is to help students in the communities we serve," said Nicole Williams, marketing director for Heartland Bank and Trust Company. "The scholarships were available to full- or part-time WIU students in good standing, at any class level. Scholarships were open to residents of Heartland Bank and Trust Illinois service areas.

Recipients of the 2012 Heartland Bank and Trust Scholarships include: Rachel Brand, a freshman elementary education major from Elmhurst; Tonielle Hayes, a sophomore elementary education major from Harvey; Josephlyn Mendoza, a junior bilingual/bicultural education major from the 2700 block of North Merrimac Avenue, Chicago; Tyler Miller, a senior computer science major from Morton; Tenee Sams, a freshman nursing major from the 300 block of West 92nd Street, Chicago; and Breanne Thomas, a sophomore nursing major from the 11600 block of South Racine Avenue, Chicago.

"We are grateful to Heartland Bank and Trust's generosity," said Vice President for Advancement and Public Services Brad Bainter. "Western is fortunate to partner with a business so invested in its communities. The students receiving these scholarships will greatly benefit."
