Transfer Student Registration 

New Transfer Student Registration is for students who have been accepted and are ready to make their class schedule to attend Western Illinois University.  

Transfer New Student Orientation Program

New Student Orientation is a way to learn and get connected prior to school starting. The Student Orientation program allows family members to learn about the campus, its academic programs, costs, financial aid, residence hall life, and student support services.

To register for New Student Orientation log into your STARS account and follow your next steps. The link to register will be on this page. 

 

Advisor Registration 

New incoming transfer students are required to meet with their academic advisor prior to registering. The academic advisor will assist students with navigating their degree plan and course selection. Contact information for the assigned academic advisor is available in the students STARS account and on the advisor directory. 

English & Math Requirements

Students who have not completed the required English composition course and/or an approved math class at their previous institutions may be expected to complete additional placement testing. After students receive their evaluation and registration instructions, they may contact your academic advisor to schedule your advising appointment.

Advisor Registration Dates

  • Your registration date will be listed in your STARS account. You may set an appointment with your advisor for a date on or after your registration date and upon submission of official transcript(s) from any instiution you have attended. 

Other Registration Considerations

Transfer students who plan to attend summer school at Western Illinois University prior to attending classes in the fall may register for both summer and fall during their advising appointment. They may also register at the beginning of summer school in early June.

How Do I Register?

  • Transfer students should log in to STARS and follow the next steps page. The academic tab in STARS shows Major/Advisor information. 
  • Incoming freshman that were unable to attend a prior Summer Orientation & Registration session should contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office at 309-298-3157 to register
