Instruction Two

Total hours attempted exceeds the federal limit

If you want your financial aid eligibility to be reinstated, you will be asked to address the following in your appeal:

  • Explain why you were unable to graduate within the federal limit.
  • Apply for graduation with the Registrar's Office.
  • Enroll only in coursework required for your first undergraduate degree.

Your academic advisor must email FinAid-SP@wiu.edu with the following information:

  • The total number of hours required for your first undergraduate degree major (including a list of remaining required courses with course number).
  • The total number of transfer hours no longer needed for your current major, if applicable.
  • The total number of WIU hours by course number required for previous major but no longer required for current major, if applicable.
  • Confirmation that you have been advised for the semester of appeal and that your hours are required.
  • Confirmation of your graduation date.
